January 1997 The Whits/Red colorway was released the price tag was $135.That was Jordan’s 12 season in the NBA he averaged  29.6 season.A small detail that’s really nice about the sneaker is the way the creators wrote “23″ on the tongue, by actually spelling out the “2″, so it says “TWO 3″. The shoe’s stitching is reminiscent of sun rays, as the shoe is modeled after the Nisshoki, which is the Japanese rising sun flag, as well as a 19th century womens dress boot.

The red portion features a lizard print design, reminiscent of the Air Jordan 2 (II). Besides that, the shoe features specs such as leather uppers, carbon fiber sheath and Air sole, as well as a quick lacing system. As we jump forward to 2009 and we have the almost exact same retro from ’97. The only thing that looks different to me is the material. As we all know the materials we use today are not really the same as they were when Jordan was playing. Jordan Brand was actaully making a performance sneaker and now it has kind of turned into fashion.

I like both but you can tell where the red leather on the side of the retro AJXII, is lower and not as rouned on the red part above the jumpman sign where as the OG AJXII red part above the jumpman is higher and rounded giving more of that sun look.Basically what I’m saying is the OG on sides has more red than the retros does. The material is the same except for the metal loops, the OG’s are not shining while the retros are(which I think is cool).Besides that, there is no difference between the 2 and the retros comes very close to the OG’s incomparison to the other Jordan retros.

And ohh yeah the bottom too,the bottom on the retros are lighter  incomparison to the Originals which matches the red lizard leather except on the back heel. The white upper leather on the Originals are thicker than the retros. When it comes to wear, there is no difference.

I think the Originals used Smooth leather while the Retro version used Tumbled leather.
